  • storage wars: a toy story

storage wars; a toy story...February 12, 2015...In the past few days, I've been asked by several of my friends who are also moms if I have any solutions for toy storage. The answer is, sort of... As any parent knows, the moment you think you are settling into a solid routine with your baby... bam! The routine changes. It's a constant work-in-progress, an ever-changing, ebbing and flowing experiment. They change and grow, we adapt. They change again. We adapt - again. Repeat cycle.  That's sort of how I feel about toy storage. As our little petit bebe grows and changes, the way we configure and use our living space grows and changes with her... Before Ms.

  • All In The Family

"A happy family is but an earlier heaven." George Bernard Shaw...I'm the oldest - chronologically, at least - of four girls, all born within 6 years of one another. Although my poor father wanted nothing more than a son to sit by his side in the stands at all 82 Yankee home games, he was in fact blessed with three beautiful, strong, athletic "tom boys" - and me. All four of us played every sport on offer growing up. My sisters won the medals; I wore them with a nice blouse. That is, on the rare occasion when I prevailed in our daily wars over stolen blouses, sweaters, earrings and time on the single, beige, rotary, landline, pre-call waiting telephone (its cord stretched to the limit under the door of the closet, a haven of privacy (but for that incessant pounding!)). We were a feisty crew, to be sure. Lots of high drama and abundant hormones.

NYC hair & Lunch in Italy... It's that time of month, not that time.  Time to color and/or cut your hair.  Let's admit it, it's the best accessory you have.  If your hair doesn't look good, forget about the rest of you.  Good looking hair goes a long way in the scheme of things.  Hair that looks good could even turn a tired, over-worked face into looking like Cinderella. ....please click the link to read on!..

  • My life has simultaneously narrowed and widened

My life has simultaneously narrowed and widened People ask me, with some regularity, how I “do it all.” Of course, I don’t. There is plenty I don’t do. And I have been thinking about that a lot lately, of the immensely different ways we each populate our hours and what they say about what we value. Every hour of our life is a choice, a trade-off between competing priorities and desires. We are all given the same number of hours in a day. What do you prioritize? What do you care about? Where are you spending your time? In the last several years my own life has simultaneously narrowed and widened. It has narrowed because I have substantially cut down on external (non-job and non-family) commitments. I say no much more often than I say yes.

  • Night at the White House....

You cant miss the following excerpts from Mara Davis' blog...Night at the White on the link below to read the entire piece! ...How does a Atlanta gal end up at the Ford’s Theatre Lincoln Medal of Honor ceremony?  My brother Ian has a big job in Washington DC that requires him to go to big events. Every now and then I get to be the +1 and jump at the chance to attend.  This is how I got to the Kennedy Center Honorsa few times. When we arrived, the security was tight.  You go through three check points to get in.  There’s secret service, security and bomb sniffing dogs everywhere.  According to Ian, it wasn’t always like this.  The Sahali disaster (!!) changed the set up.The difference between this event and a tourist tour is that these rooms are normally roped off.
