Dr. Karen Latimer is a Columbia University trained Family Physician, mom of five, author and entrepreneur. She became board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine while pregnant with her second daughter. During her first hiatus from practicing, she founded and was the director of Give and Learn, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the education of disadvantaged New York City school children. After her third daughter was born, she moved to the suburbs, and went back to work in private practice on the upper west side of Manhattan.

In 2009, she was blessed with twin boys and shortly thereafter started a medical and family blog, YesFive. Karen subsequently founded Tips From Town, a local lifestyle website and is the president, a frequent contributor and doer of anything that needs to be done.

Dr. Latimer served as the Director of Health and Parening Content for AOL, was a frequent guest expert on ABC News’ Healthy Living, and has appeared on Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight. In 2014 she authored the eBook Understanding Ebola: What the CDC Wants You To Know in the Midst of the Ebola epidemic.

Currently, in addition to her work on Tips From Town, she practices medicine in a free clinic for the working poor and has several products in the development stages. Her dream is to publish the book she is working on to help parents better understand their role in the obesity epidemic. Teaser: It goes way beyond sugary snacks.
