Brooke Markevicius

Founder and CEO of Allobee
Need a service?
They have it!

Brooke started her career in Non-Profit management and then discovered a love of all things technology (she was fixing everyones computer issues and suggesting ways to upgrade their systems) and decided to get a Masters in Computer Information Systems from Boston University.

She went on to work at Postmates in Operations until she left 5 years ago when she realized the lack of flexibility it provided for her as a new mother.  Brooke went on to do freelance Web Development and IT Project Management before helping to co-found a co-working space for moms in Tacoma, Washington,, The Pod Works.  There she saw that moms had created their own little economy buying and selling each other's goods and services.  In an effort to get moms paid more and on a larger scale, Brooke took her tech skills and love for supporting mom-owned businesses and merged them into one idea, Allobee.

Allobee has become the one stop shopping platform for small businesses, and startups, who need help either finding and/or providing their goods and freelance services.

" to help girls raise their hands instead of lowering their standards."

  • Between the ages of 8 and 14 girls’ confidence can drop by 30%

  • By age 14 girls are dropping their sports at 2x the rate of boys

  • The biggest fall off of girls in computer science remains between the ages of 13 and 17

But...what if they didn't?

What if, at exactly the time when some girls are quitting what they love,

they met the right female role model?

A former Skadden Arps lawyer and guest lecturer at Columbia University, Illana has been busy since 2016 founding Être - a resource and mentorship platform for girls approaching high school. She thinks of Être as knowledge strategy for girls - highlighting valuable tools and role models they will need to change the world - and contributes to HuffPost, Ellevate, Ms. Magazine and Thrive Global on these issues. Named a Mogul Influencer in 2017, Illana has appeared in the HuffPost "Talk To Me" video series, participated in the 2018 Balance Project Interviews and the 2019 #WomenWhoRock campaign, and has been featured on Cheddar TV and podcasts like The Other 50%, UBS’ Signature Series, Finding Brave and Women To Watch Media. Her journey from lawyer to founder was profiled in Forbes and Worth, and her award-winning book “Être: Girls, Who Do You Want To Be?” was released in Oct. 2019 on Day of the Girl.
